Founded in 1930 by Warren B. Goodnow, the W.B. Goodnow Agency has been family-owned and operated for four generations, serving the North Country's insurance needs.
The W.B. Goodnow Agency has been a part of the North Country fabric since 1930. Our story began when Warren B. Goodnow opened the agency's first office right in his home on Maple Street in Winthrop. We've been here through thick and thin, even keeping our doors open to serve the community during the historic Ice Storm of 1943.
Warren's son, Warren C. Goodnow, joined the agency after returning home from World War II, eventually taking over in 1951. He and his wife, Gwendolyn, guided the agency through two relocations, finally settling at our current location at 1 Cemetery Street.
The family tradition continued in 1974 when their son, Warren, took the helm. A few decades later, amidst one of the North Country's worst natural disasters, Warren's son, Mark, got his first taste of the insurance business and the vital role it plays in helping people in times of need.
Mark officially joined the agency in 2002, becoming the fourth generation of Goodnows to carry on the legacy. To this day, we remain committed to providing our friends and neighbors with the same personalized service and reliable insurance solutions that have defined the W.B. Goodnow Agency for over 90 years.
